SliceCast

In this latest Slicecast, I sat down in the studio with VCY America Radio and TV founder and Executive Director, Vic Eliason, who is also my father. Having celebrated his 50th year in ministry last year, Vic talks about his philosophy of Christian broadcasting, explains why there are no commercials on VCY America, talks about potential threats to religious speech, the birth of Christian talk radio and describes what it is like to flip a switch on a new radio station that replaces secular radio broadcasting with the message of Jesus Christ. Vic is a veteran broadcaster and Christian radio pioneer who began building Christian radio back when FM was in its infancy in our city. They said it couldn’t be done, but the Lord had other plans. Today, the message of the Gospel is broadcast over VCY America’s 20 radio stations and translators, (with Crosstalk airing on 88 radio stations) and two television channels, with four more radio outlets in process.  +Soli Deo Gloria+

P.S. Vic returned from out of state yesterday with photographs of a 14-story building which will soon have an antenna on the roof that will broadcast the radio signal to Joplin, Missouri. I’ve always been in awe of my father’s Viking tenacity, but when he told me that he had climbed an outdoor ladder that took him precariously from the 13th floor part of the roof to the 14th floor roof so he could check out antenna space, it truly boggled my mind. All I can do is say, well, that’s Dad.
