52% of Evangelical Young People Believe in Gay Marriage

The WorldnetDaily Commentary today by Dave Welch reminds us that ideas have consequences. The idea that American evangelicals didn’t need to teach their children from Scripture, line upon line, and steep them in the Word of God was a bad one. When fun became the primary objective of child and youth programs at church (so the kids would want to go), it destroyed the foundations of biblical understanding and discernment in the church.
In his now infamous leftist swan song on NPR last week, Richard Cizik of the NAE boasted about the statistics for evangelical young people, claiming that “52 percent favor either same sex marriage or civil unions,” it is little surprise. All those countless hours filled with pizza, rock concerts, gross-out contests and lock-ins produced the present biblical illiterati calling themselves “evangelical Christians.” I have news for them. They may be evangelicals, but they can’t be Christians if they reject the commands of God.
It’s very sobering to realize just how much of a victory was won by the enemy when the whole seeker, man-centered idea of church won the day. Motocross stunts, sex challenges, and senior pastors dressed up like professional wrestlers are the new normal. When man writes the rules for church, that is what you get. And the fact that 52% of our young people think gay marriage is OK shows just how destructive abandoning the preaching of the Word really is.
