As you’ll see here, not surpringly, last week the very popular emerging church website The Ooze came out in favor of gay marriage. More evidence that there’s a same sex storm just slightly off the coast of the mainstream evangelical community, which is right now approaching hurricane force.

Crossroad.to brings us this bang on piece culled from the Editors at Lighhouse Trails Research:
It was Shakespeare who said a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. In the case of the “new spirituality” that has pervaded so much of Christianity, emergent church by any other name is just as harmful. While some are saying they are not “emergent” but are emerging, the overall beliefs (and mission) of each–emergent and emerging–are the same. A perfect example of this can be found in…

Well, that’s what the leaders of the Church of England hope, anyway. Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams believes that innovative forms of worship, like praying for the CEOs of billion dollar corporations, meditating at prayer stations representing things like “gender equality,” and music by U2 will bring young people into the mausoleums which are English churches. It wont’ work. Man’s methods never do.
I will never forget standing in a 500 year old church on a Sunday in England and watching the priest performing his elaborate ceremonies for the choir. The ancient church was completely empty. On the bulletin board, there was a desperate plea for funds to fix the bell tower. The crumbling church buildings and the empty pews are symbolic of the moral decay and spiritual emptiness that has fallen on England. Man-made initiatives will never bring true revival to England’s churches, only the true gospel will. “Fresh Expressions” may fill the pews, but God long ago wrote Ichabod above the doors of Canterbury Cathedral.

Alongside the post Peter Rollins And Ikon Singing “Seeds Of Doubt” comes this recollection from our friend Cecil Andrews of Take Heed Ministries, who’s literally been a guest of Ikon’s and has, in person, also heard Peter Rollins speak.
In this informative article concerning Ikon and their god with a man-shaped hole in his heart Andrews tells us:
Peter Rollins spoke for 40 minutes and early on he identified what was a motivating factor behind IKON’s search for a form of Christian spiritual reality – it was their observation of a failure by professing ‘Christians’ within professing Christendom to demonstrate a life-style clearly different from the ‘non-believing’ world round about them.
As a result of this I believe that Peter Rollins has an understandable misconception of what Biblical Christianity is really all about and in consequence he tends to present a caricature of genuine Biblical Christianity…
